Road Conditions: Major highways such as the Karachi–Hyderabad motorway and Lahore–Islamabad motorway are well maintained, while roads near heritage sites or smaller towns may be narrower or uneven. Extra travel time has been factored into daily drives. Traffic: Expect moderate urban traffic in Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, and Lahore. Accommodation Premium Properties: Accommodations include Pearl Continental, Serena, your agreed accommodation and PC Hotels. Room Types: Deluxe or premium rooms with private bathrooms are provided. Most hotels offer Wi-Fi, 24-hour front desk service, and in-house dining. Heritage Stays: In historical towns such as Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, properties may have heritage-style architecture but maintain modern comfort standards. Cultural and Historical Sites UNESCO Sites: The journey includes Mohenjo-Daro, Makli Necropolis, Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, Rohtas Fort, and Taxila, all requiring respectful behavior, modest attire, and adherence to photography rules. Mosques: Visits to Shah Jahan Mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque, and Badshahi Mosque are included. Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is required, and shoes must be removed before entering prayer areas. Sufi Shrines: Visits to shrines in Multan, such as the mausoleums of Bahauddin Zakariya and Shah Rukn-e-Alam, involve local customs such as offering flowers, reciting prayers quietly, and not disturbing worshippers. Climate and Clothing Temperature: Southern Punjab (Karachi to Bahawalpur) will have moderate to warm daytime temperatures (18–30°C) and cooler mornings/evenings (16–20°C). Islamabad will be cooler (12–25°C). Clothing: Light, breathable clothing is recommended for daytime, with a light jacket or sweater for early mornings and evenings. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for historical sites. Sun Protection: Hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses are advised, especially during visits to deserts, open archaeological sites, and gardens. Health and Safety Water and Food: Drink only bottled water provided by the journey. Avoid tap water. Meals are included, and we recommend trying local dishes at reputable restaurants or under guide supervision. Medical Facilities: While major cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, and Lahore have international-standard hospitals, some smaller towns and rural areas on the itinerary, such as Mohenjo-Daro, Kot Diji Fort, Rahim Yar Khan, Derawar Fort in Cholistan, and remote stretches en route to Bahawalpur, have limited medical access. Guests should carry essential medications and inform guides of any health concerns. Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended. It should cover medical emergencies, trip interruptions, and baggage loss. Communication Mobile Connectivity: Major towns and cities have reliable cellular service. However, Mohenjo-Daro, Kot Diji Fort, Derawar Fort, and desert stretches near Bahawalpur may have limited coverage. International roaming may incur charges; local SIM cards can be arranged if needed. Language: English is widely understood in hotels, airports, and major tourist sites. Guides will provide full explanations and assist with interactions. Photography and Etiquette Always ask permission before photographing locals, especially in rural areas, religious sites, or Sufi shrines. Respect local customs, traditions, and religious practices. Public displays of affection are discouraged. Avoid touching or climbing monuments unless permitted. Currency and Payments The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) is the local currency. Major hotels and restaurants accept cards, but cash is recommended for smaller vendors or rural areas. Tips for guides, drivers, and hotel staff are customary but not obligatory. Connectivity & Documentation Keep a copy of your passport, visa, and emergency contacts with you. All guests are required to have valid Pakistani visas. Crossroads Adventure can provide invitation letters to facilitate visa processing.
