Your 13-day itinerary

A proposed sequence, adapted to your dates and interests. Weather, flight operation and local access may require changes.

DAY 1

Arrival In Islamabad (Altitude: 540M)

Upon arrival in Islamabad, transfer to your hotel and unwind from your journey. The rest of the day is at your leisure, allowing you to explore the city or simply relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay at Islamabad.

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Islamabad

DAY 2

Islamabad To Raikot Via Naran (Altitude: 540M - 1,340M)

Depart early in the morning from Islamabad and Venture on a scenic drive through the beautiful Kaghan Valley. Enjoy lush green meadows, gushing rivers, and snow-capped peaks. Stopover in Naran for lunch and explore the town’s stunning landscapes. Continue your journey to Raikot and check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Raikot Shangrilla Hotel.

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Raikot Shangrilla Hotel

DAY 3

Raikot to Fairy Meadows · jeep and uphill walk

At Raikot Bridge, transfer to a locally operated 4×4 jeep for the narrow, exposed track towards Tattu (also called Tato). Continue on foot through the pine forest to Fairy Meadows and settle into the agreed lodge or cottage. Carry your daypack, water and warm layer; main luggage and porter arrangements are confirmed before departure. Horses may be available locally, but availability, suitability and charges are agreed separately.

Jeep track: approximately 12–15 km; allow around 1.5–2.5 hours as a planning estimate, depending on track conditions and stops. Uphill walk: approximately 5 km / 3–4 hours, with rests. Fairy Meadows: approximately 3,300 m. This is an exposed jeep transfer followed by an uphill mountain trail.

Overnight: Fairy Meadows · lodge or cottage agreed after enquiry

DAY 4

Fairy Meadows to Nanga Parbat base-camp area · return hike

Start early and follow the guide through the forest towards Beyal, then onto the higher, rougher trail towards the Raikot-side Nanga Parbat base-camp area. The route progresses from forest and meadows to rocky mountain and glacier-margin terrain. Keep the group together and follow the guide’s chosen line. Turn back at the agreed point if snow, weather, fatigue or acclimatisation make the higher approach unsuitable; Beyal and the viewpoints provide a shorter alternative.

The official destination guide gives around 4–5 hours for the outward base-camp approach. Allow a full day, approximately 7–9 hours including the return and rests; this total is a planning allowance, not a guaranteed pace. Start near 3,300 m; the guide confirms the precise base-camp endpoint, commonly described around 4,000 m. Exact walking distance depends on that endpoint.

Overnight: Fairy Meadows · same lodge or cottage

DAY 5

Fairy Meadows to Minapin · downhill walk, jeep and road transfer

Descend the forest trail from Fairy Meadows to Tattu, then take the local jeep back to Raikot Bridge. Rejoin the Karakoram Highway and continue through the Jaglot–Gilgit corridor towards Minapin in Nagar. Keep sightseeing brief and prioritise arrival, a meal and rest before tomorrow’s ascent. This stage includes the descent and jeep transfer before the highway drive; it is not a road-only day.

Downhill walk: approximately 5 km / 2–3 hours as a planning allowance. Jeep descent: allow around 1.5–2.5 hours, subject to track conditions. The separate highway transfer is confirmed for your pickup and hotel locations. Carry water and allow a full travel day.

Overnight: Minapin · guesthouse agreed after enquiry

DAY 6

Minapin to Taghafari · Rakaposhi base-camp ascent and camp

Leave Minapin on the uphill trail to Hapakun, climbing through village land, woodland and mountain pastures. Rest at Hapakun before continuing up the steeper trail and ridge towards Taghafari, also written Tagha Pari or Tagaphari. The high meadow looks over Minapin Glacier beneath Rakaposhi. Follow the walking trail to the agreed camp; crossing Minapin Glacier or continuing to Diran base camp is a separate objective and is not included in this stage.

Minapin’s community route guide gives approximately 3 hours to Hapakun and another 3 hours to Taghafari. Allow around 6–8 hours uphill with rests as a planning estimate. Confirm the exact camp elevation, trail distance, water arrangements and porter load before departure. Overnight camping rather than a same-day return to Minapin.

Overnight: Taghafari / Tagha Pari · camping

DAY 7

Rakaposhi views at Taghafari · descend to Minapin

Enjoy the morning views from the Taghafari base-camp meadow, with a short guide-led walk only if weather, ground conditions and acclimatisation allow. Retrace the trail via Hapakun and descend to Minapin for a guesthouse night. There is no promised separate higher Rakaposhi base camp and no Minapin Glacier crossing in this programme. Use trekking poles if helpful and take care on the steep downhill sections.

Allow approximately 4–6 hours for the descent with breaks as a planning estimate; any morning walk adds time. The guide confirms the trail and turnaround time locally. This is a substantial descent on mountain paths, not a glacier-crossing day.

Overnight: Minapin · guesthouse agreed after enquiry

DAY 8

Minapin To Karimabad (Altitude: 2,560M - 2,438M)

Depart from Minapin and continue your journey to Karimabad, the capital of Hunza Valley. The drive offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, terraced fields, and traditional villages. Make stopovers at various viewpoints to admire the breathtaking landscapes and capture memorable photographs. Arrive in Karimabad, a charming town known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning views of Rakaposhi and other peaks. Settle into your accommodation. Overnight stay at Karimabad (Roomy Dastan or similar).

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Karimabad (Roomy Dastan or similar)

DAY 9

Hunza Full Day (Altitude: 2,438M)

Spend the day exploring the beautiful Hunza Valley. Visit the Baltit Fort, to learn about the history and culture of the region. Wander through the charming streets of Karimabad, browse local shops, and interact with the friendly locals. Enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Ultar Peak and Ladyfinger Peak. In the evening, savor traditional Hunza cuisine and relax. Overnight stay at Karimabad (Roomy Dastan or similar).

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Karimabad (Roomy Dastan or similar)

DAY 10

Attabad Lake, Gulmit, Passu (Altitude: 2,438M)

Start your day by visiting the mesmerizing Attabad Lake, known for its turquoise blue waters and scenic backdrop. Enjoy a boat ride or simply take in the breathtaking views. Continue your journey to Gulmit, a picturesque village in Gojal Valley, and interact with the hospitable locals. Proceed to Passu, a scenic village offering panoramic views of the Passu Cones and the Batura Glacier. Take a short hike to experience the beauty of the area up close. Overnight stay in Passu (Sarai Silk Route or similar).

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Passu (Sarai Silk Route or similar)

DAY 11

Passu to Naran or Bisham · southbound road journey

Begin the southbound return along the Karakoram Highway. Use Naran only when Babusar Pass is open and suitable; otherwise stay in Bisham. This is a long road day with meal and rest stops. Continue to Islamabad tomorrow.

Travel mode: Road transfers and local visits. Distances and timings are approximate where stated in the programme.

Overnight: Naran or Bisham · accommodation agreed after enquiry

DAY 12

Naran/Bisham → Islamabad · hotel overnight

Complete the road journey from Naran or Bisham to Islamabad and check into your hotel. Naran is used only when the Babusar route is open and suitable; otherwise travel via Bisham and the Karakoram Highway. Optional Taxila or city stops depend on road conditions and arrival time. Rest overnight in Islamabad before international departure.

Mountain flights, road alternatives & international departure

When a mountain flight is cancelled, the road alternative is split over two days with an overnight in Naran when the Babusar route is open and suitable, or in Bisham via the Karakoram Highway. The same overnight arrangement applies when travelling north from Islamabad towards Gilgit or Hunza. Northbound road travel replaces local sightseeing or uses the arrival-contingency day shown in the programme. Return journeys reach Islamabad at least one calendar day before international departure, with an Islamabad hotel overnight. Confirm international flight times against this revised sequence before booking.

Season, access & pace

Walking requirements differ between the two approaches. Discuss recent trekking experience, camp arrangements and the jeep transfer before confirming the programme.
