Go-lee/ Giyaling

Go-lee/ Giyaling is one of the widely eaten traditional breakfast item in Hunza. It’s just like a thin salty pancake that is usually cooked on special occasions and served with butter on it along with tea.

Chapshuro

Chapshuro is another delicious food that is often called ‘Hunza Pizza’- It is basically a bread stuffed with chopped/minced meat of beef, mutton or chicken with onion and different spices.

Gittey-

Gittey- is like sausages and is made with the intestines of animals along with wheat flour and some spices and herbs.

Darru

Another famous local food is Darru – very healthy and delicious soup that is made with noodles and meat.

Chamosh

Chamosh- an extremely flavorsome juice made from dried apricots, you’ll forget all the juices once you’ll taste it.

Mantoo

Mantoo- or meat dumplings that are cooked with flour and meat are equally appetizing.

Namkeen Chaye

Namkeen Chaye- that is tea made with milk, tea, salt, pepper and ginger and is sometimes served with a little butter is a must go to, it tastes different from the regular tea but is very nutritious. Besides, ‘fittis’ that is salty cake, is very delicious and worth tasting. It is made of wheat flour, milk, butter and salt.

There is also a sweet desert that is made from almonds, walnuts, flaxseed, and apricot Seeds, all roasted and then grounded, peppered over a combination of barley and a local species of wheat. It is delightful when eaten with a scoop of fresh cream or yogurt and a little honey.

Lastly, apricots, apples, plums, peaches, cherries and grapes, almond, walnuts and berries that are grown in the region are also very important part of people’s food. :
