Get ready for an exciting jeep ride as you journey towards Askole village, the last settlement in the valley. Along the way, you'll pass through mesmerizing landscapes and charming villages, with the adventure of off-road tracks adding to the thrill.
Start your trek from Askole towards Jhula, passing through Korofong along the way. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Biafo Glacier and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the wilderness.
Follow the Braldu Gorge along the Braldu River, witnessing breathtaking views of Trango Tower and Cathedral Peak. Trek through streams and catch glimpses of the Baltoro Glacier on a clear day as you make your way to Bardumal.
We will start early trekking from Bardumal and will arrive at Paiju by morning. When the sun is out there is a good flow of water in the river and to avoid that we need to start early. After an early start from Bardumal, we arrive at Paiju by mid-morning. The reason for leaving early in the morning is to help us to cross several side rivers when their flow rate is low. Paiju is a green oasis under the shadows of Paiju Peak (6,611m). From this camp, we have the first views of the immense Baltoro Glacier.
Today is about the Baltoro glacier, starting from Paiju we will be walking on the Baltoro glacier. It is on a rocky moraine we will have to be very careful with our steps as the surface is not even. Trekking poles are a must. We will stop for lunch at Lilligo which is the old campsite. After this break, we cross below the snout of the Lilligo Glacier and back on to the Baltoro. We will have to stay together as the trail is indistinct at several places and chances of losing your way are easy so better to stay together and follow the trek leader.
The journey continues and we follow a lateral moraine next to the glacier. We descended down to Baltoro and pass two side glaciers. It is not a long day but at the same time not an easy day as we will be walking up the undulating moraine gaining height. However, the majestic views of Trango & Cathedral spires help us to forget about all the hardship and trouble. Mount Uli Biaho (6,005m) and Mount Biale (6,841m). can also be witnessed from this point. We camp at Urdukas today which is a very impressive place with a stunning view of Baltoro and other mountains. We are above 4000m and we will stay here for two nights to acclimatize.
Today we will acclimatize and have proper rest. This is also the best place for cleaning and washing.
Today from the camp we descent onto the glacier and the trail continues the ice until we reach Urdukas. The ice is flatter as we are high up the Baltoro glacier and the walk is easier. The view from the center of the glacier is gorgeous on both sides and we see several majestic mountains from here. We get a nice view of Muztagh (7,270m) and Masherbrum (7,800m). We see Gasherbrum IV (7,925m) at the head of the Baltoro glacier near Concordia. There are views of the campsite at Goro II is on the glacier.
Today we are higher on the glacier as we walk up the center of the Baltoro to Concordia. Concordia is where the Baltoro, Abruzzi, and Godwin Austen glaciers converge. This place offers an amazing view of high peaks. The view of the mighty K2 from here is gorgeous. We will also witness the Broad Peak and some of the Gashabrum group.
The wait is over today as we are going to be at the base camp of the mighty K2 today. Today we trek from Concordia to the base camp and the route passes through jumbled ice finds and mountain ridges. We will shortly reach the fracture zone where Godwin Austin glacier and Baltoro meet. After this conjunction area, the walking is on a flatter glacier towards a broad peak. After reaching a broad peak we will proceed to the K2 base camp. Upon arrival at K2 base camp, we will spend an hour there and trek back to Broad camp overnight.
Following the same route which we used for going up, we will come down to Concordia
Enjoy another day of trekking as you make your way back to Goro 1, savoring the scenic beauty of the landscape.
Continue your descent towards Khoburtse, marveling at the changing scenery as you bid farewell to the Baltoro Glacier.
Descend further down to Paiju, where you'll spend the night amid the tranquil surroundings.
Embark on the final leg of your trek from Paiju to Jhola, celebrating your journey and accomplishments upon arrival.
After a fulfilling trek, reach Askole village, where you'll bid farewell to your porters and supporting staff.
Board a vehicle for the return journey to Skardu, where you'll spend the night.
